Audition monologues from recent works by American playwrights.Todd London, the nation's longest center for the creative and professional growth of American playwrights, is in his 18th season as artistic director of New Dramatists. Todd was the first person to receive the Theatre Communications Group's (TCG) Visionary Leadership Award, which honors someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty to enhance the theater sector as a whole, regionally and/or worldwide. He is the author of several books, including The Importance of Staying Earnest: Writings from Inside the American Theatre, 1988-2013 (NoPassport Publishing), Outrageous Fortune: The Lives and Times of the New American Play (with Ben Pesner, Theatre Development Fund), The Artistic Home (TCG), and The World's Room, a novel (Steerforth Press). On howlround.com, he writes a piece called A Lover's Guide to American Playwrights, in which he pays respect to modern playwrights. For his writings on American theatre, he received the coveted George Jean Nathan Award for Theatrical Criticism, as well as a Milestone Award for his work.
New Dramatists got a special Tony(R) Honor and the Obie's Ross Wetzsteon Award under his direction. Todd is currently a member of the Yale School of Drama's faculty.
