There is an argument that the study of British Politics is in decline; that it is being surpassed by much more sexy subjects such as globalisation or international relations, or regional studies - be it Europe, the Americas or South East Asia. Despite this gloomy outlook, there is a need for the study of British Politics. Rather than it being the entire degree, it might need to be part of a bigger package - be it in Politics or Government. It is also part of the study of Citizenship - and a key component at that. Yet the study of British Politics should go much further. Somebody studying business, for example, ought to have an awareness of the fundamentals of British Politics.
