Courtney Crumrin Volume 2 by Ted Naifeh
Courtney Crumrin is back in a new adventure that pits her against the town's most powerful warlocks and witches, the Coven of Mystics! When the night things of Courtney's community start causing trouble, it's up to the girl to find out why. The coven blames the hobgoblin initially but quickly turns its ire to Skarrow, a night thing in service to the town's most reclusive witch. Uncle Aloysius doesn't believe the disturbances are that easy to explain. His dismissal of the Coven's alleged culprit starts Courtney down a twisted path that leads to the true mastermind behind all the horror! But does Courtney stand a chance against a being that powerful and manipulative?Ted Naifeh debuted in the independent comics market in 1999 as the illustrator for SLG Publishing's Gloomcookie, a goth romance comic he co-created with Serena Valentino. Ted decided to go out on his own after a successful run, penning and drawing Courtney Crumrin and the Night Creatures, a creepy children's fantasy series about a grouchy little girl and her adventures with her Warlock uncle. Courtney Crumrin's success, which earned her an Eisner Award nomination for best limited series, paved the way for Polly and the Pirates, a children's book about a prim and perfect girl kidnapped by pirates believing she was the daughter of their long-lost queen. Ted authored four volumes of Courtney Crumrin over the next few years, as well as a spin-off book about her uncle. He also co-created How Loathsome with Tristan Crane and collaborated with scriptwriter Gary Whitta on two volumes of the videogame tie-in comic Death Junior.
He most recently illustrated The Good Neighbors, a three-volume graphic novel series by New York Times bestselling author Holly Black, which was published by Scholastic. Ted wrote and illustrated four Batman short stories for DC Comics in 2011 after finishing the sequel to Polly and the Pirates. In 2012, he authored and illustrated the final two volumes of the Courtney Crumrin series to commemorate the series' tenth anniversary. Ted may currently be found in a variety of places, from the pages of Batman '66 to his newest adult original series, Night's Dominion.
Ted chooses to reside in San Francisco because he enjoys rainy days.
