Brian Haggard shares his journey of creating a series of quilts and pillows that celebrates and commemorates his ancestorsIf you're someone who revels in vintage things, has a stash of old family photographs and would love to find ways of presenting them in unique ways, it's likely that this book wil be of enormous value Interestingly, Brian works in a palette that's almost entirely neutrals-perhaps he and Pay Wys are in the nanguard of a new trend? - But there's no reason why his 10 projects coudn't be implemented in every colour of the rainbow and look just as wonderful. In addition to step-by-step instructions for a variety of embroidery stitches for embellishing your crazy patchwork, Brian provides notes on printing photographs on fabrics, "antiquing" your fabrics, a gallery of his work (in addition to the projects) and a number of full-size traceable embroidery designs.

Brian Haggard in his new book Crazy-Quilted Memories walks the sewer through the steps to create beautiful crazy patchwork with 10 specific projects capturing family moments and memories. Each project starts with a special family memento, and the creativity under Brian’s guidance grows from there. The book’s design and most of the projects are presented in old-fashioned, soft sepia tones. Design a class where everyone brings in a photo or other small family treasure to use in their own project. Read Brian’s preface in the first session and let the storytelling begin.
* American Quilt Retailer *Brian Haggard has never been one to be held to other people's ideas. His creative nature inspires people to try new things with found objects and to always look at them in new ways. He uses this gift in his interior design business, as he creates homes out of houses. Now, he has brought his unique perspective to the artistry of quilting.
At a young age, Brian was given a sewing machine by his parents, from which many projects were born. His pastime was making handcrafted items, with inspiration coming from just about anything in the universe. It has been a natural progression for him to create his textile works.
His one wish, if you learn anything from the books that he writes, is that you be inspired to find your own creative genius and never forget to enjoy the process.
Brian is the current president of the Indianapolis Button Club. In addition to his love of buttons, he is always open to new ideas and new concepts and has been inspired to build many diverse collections - parts of which end up in his textile art and quilts. His greatest joy comes from the students he teaches and the smiles that cross their faces when they've freed their inner artist. Brian lives and works in Indianapolis in a newly designed loft-style studio.
