Creative Sampler Embroidery by Caroline Vincent
Using stitches and colours, this title contains ideas for capturing the modern world with a sampler, still using age-old designs but interpreting them with beautiful images and contemporary techniques. Topics covered include: stitches - the samplers are based around the favoured cross-stitch, but other stitches are suggested to give embroideries a rich texture; colour - the mixing and blending of colours to create a wide range of effects and a harmonious design; designs - a great variety of motifs are included from Suffolk sheep to sunflower, country house to cornstook; composition - five larger projects are included; step-by-step instructions are given with threads to use on both Aida and Evenweave cloth.
Caroline Vincent studied Fine Art before completing a post-graduate Textiles degree at the Royal College of Art. She has undertaken several public commissions and her embroideries are in many private collections. She regularly exhibits and lecturers on her work and also runs master-classes in sampler embroidery.
