Crispin and the Best Birthday Surprise Ever by Ted Dewan
Crispin is going to have the most super special birthday ever. He's going to the Cheezy Mouse Birthday Bonanza and all his friends are invited! On the big day everyone is happy and excited, until ...they get stuck in truly the worst traffic jam ever. At last they pull into a roadside cafe. It doesn't look very exciting, but perhaps Crispin's birthday hasn't been ruined after all ...
"This is a wonderful comedy of excess" Independent "Another exuberant and humourous picture book from Ted Dewan, full of detail and funGood to read aloud" The School Librarian "As well as offering genuine child appeal, Dewan portrays a bleak picture of contemporary urban life strewn with litter" TES
TED DEWAN grew up in Lexington, Massachusetts and moved to London in 1988. There, he managed to make a living drawing for the Times Educational Supplement, the Times, the Guardian, the Independent and the Daily Telegraph. After becoming a father in 1998, he decided to dedicate most of his time to writing and illustrating books. His first book for the Doubleday list was The Sorcerer's Apprentice, which was short-listed for the Kurt Maschler Award. Ted is the creator of the lovable, feisty pre-school character Bing Bunny who stars in a fresh and funny series for toddlers published by David Fickling Books. He lives in Oxford with his wife, artist and Kate Greenaway Medal-winner, Helen Cooper, and their daughter, Pandora.
