Marcus Tanner is a journalist and author who focuses on Central and Eastern Europe. From 1988 to 1994, he was The Independent's Balkan correspondent, and then Assistant Foreign Editor. Croatia: A Country Built in Conflict, Matthias Corvinus and the Fate of His Lost Library, The Last of the Celts, Ireland's Holy Wars: The Battle for a Nation's Soul 1500-2000, and Ticket to Latvia: A Trip from Berlin to the Baltic are among his many works.
