Cathy Wilkinson Barash has been an organic gardener for most of her life. She's written a number of books, but her most well-known is Edible Flowers from Garden to Palate, which Martha Stewart praised. She recently moved to an apartment in a historic building near downtown Des Moines and began growing in large containers outdoors, mostly tomatoes and edible flowers. She tries her hand at producing veggies and fruit indoors for harvesting throughout the winter.
