Professor of Arts and Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis, James V. Wertsch After completing his Ph.D., Louis. Wertsch was a postdoctoral fellow at the USSR Academy of Sciences and Moscow State University in Moscow in 1975 after graduating from the University of Chicago. His studies focus on language, philosophy, and culture, with a particular emphasis on collective memory and national identity. Wertsch has written almost 200 books that have been translated into a dozen languages. Voices of the Mind (1991), Mind as Action (1998), and Voices of Collective Memory (2002) are among them.
