I am a sociologist, criminologist, and cultural/media analyst with over two decades of experience in academic research, teaching, writing, editing, leadership, and mentoring. I was educated at the Universities of York and Lancaster and have had faculty positions at the Universities of Lancaster, Kent, Keele, and, most recently, Hull, where I was Professor of Sociology from 2008 to 2015.
