Alexander Faris was born in 1921 Born Caledon, Co. Tyrone. He was commissioned for Irish Guards in 1943 and served near Europe. Faris conducted for many operas and musicals, and has composed TV themes for favourites such as Upstairs, Downstairs. He is also the author of a book about Jacques Offenbach, first published in 1980.
