Daddy Lost His Head by Andre Bouchard
What would you do if your daddy lost his head? Make him a new one of course! All you need is some old newspapers, paint and a potato for his nose. It turns out there are lots of advantages to having a dad with no head: he doesn't shout or snore, he always agrees with you, and he loves doing the hoovering. But will Daddy ever find his real head?
Funny and poignant -- Amanda Craig The Times A hilarious and surreal fable -- Mary James Country Life A fascinating, comically queasy tale -- Kate Kellaway Observer A lovely fable about a stressed-out father Daily Telegraph Blake's trademark style of illustration complements the very humorous narrative in this laugh-aloud, surreal chunk of madness -- Mary Arrigan The Irish Examiner
Quentin Blake has been drawing ever since he can remember and has always made his living as an illustrator. He has also taught, and for eight years was Head of the Illustration department at the Royal College of Art. Quentin Blake was made an OBE in 1988 and, in the words of The Guardian, was already a national institution when he was appointed the first Children's Laureate in 1999. Andre Bouchard works as a humorous cartoonist for major French news magazines. He has also written and illustrated several successful books for children. As a token of his admiration for Quentin Blake's talent, he wrote this story and asked him to illustrate it, which Mr Blake kindly accepted.
