Hiromu Arakawa, a Japanese manga artist, rose to prominence in 1999 with her award-winning manga Stray Dog. Fullmetal Alchemist was serialized from 2001 to 2010, with a 27-volume plot that became an international critical and economic success, winning both the Shogakukan Manga Award and the Seiun Award, and selling more than 70 million copies worldwide.
