The Dance Most of All by Jack Gilbert

In this "pithy and poignant" (Booklist) late-in-life collection, the award-winning Jack Gilbert gives us characteristically bold and nuanced poems as he revisits the passions of a lifetime-the women, the places, and the mysterious and lonely offices of poetry itself.

Jack Gilbert was born in the city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He is the author of The Great Fires: Poems 1982-1992, Monolithos, a Pulitzer Prize nominee, and Views of Jeopardy, the Yale Younger Poets Prize winner in 1962. Kochan, a limited volume of elegiac poems, was also released by him. Gilbert lives in Northampton, Massachusetts, and is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and a National Endowment for the Arts grant.
