Dancing at the Rascal Fair by I Doig
The central volume in Ivan Doig's acclaimed Montana trilogy, Dancing at the Rascal Fair is an authentic saga of the American West at the turn of this century and a passionate portrayal of the Scottish immigrants who dared to try new lives in the imposing Rocky Mountains.Ivan Doig's supple tale of homesteaders and ranching life unfolds into a fateful contest of the heart between Anna Ramsay and Angus McCaskill, walled apart by their obligations as they and their stormy kith and kin vie to tame the brutal, beautiful Two Medicine country of Montana.
Ivan Doig was born in Montana in 1939 and grew up beside the majestic Rocky Mountain Front, which has inspired much of his writing. He is the author of eight prior novels, the most recent of which is The Whistling Season, as well as three works of nonfiction, including This House of Sky, for which he received a lifetime Outstanding Achievement Award from the Western Literary Association. He is based in Seattle.
