It’s a simple concept, of course, and one that’s hardly original, but what makes this a success is that it’s written in such a wholeheartedly convincing style: the research into London in 1812 is impeccable, from the Pride and Prejudice-echoing dances to the politics of the day. The Dark Days Club was a great mix of fantasy, history and romance with classic YA heroes and heroines and I would definitely recommend it to fans of The Infernal Devices or The Diviners series where the fantasy element and the rich historical background blend together really well.
