David Gentleman's London by David Gentleman

This beautiful book is a portrait of two Londons. One is a familiar and majestic capital; the other is a city less well known and often taken for granted. "David Gentleman's London" covers the capital from the inner city to the outer limits. The traditional sights of London - Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square and St Paul's - appear alongside many less familiar splendors such as Queen Anne's Gate and Spitalfields, and often in powerful contrast to the new London that continues inexorably to develop unchecked around them.
"Gentleman's accompanying text is good humoured and erudite, with an ear for apt aphorism" World of Interiors "A beautiful record of London past and present." Illustration "A 'must have' book for anyone who has a love of art and the historic city of London" Antiques Diary, August 2011.
David Gentleman was born in 1930 in London and was educated at Hertford Grammar School and the Royal College of Art. He has designed murals and stamps, illustrated books for publishers in London and New York, made lithographs of landscape and architecture and exhibited many watercolours from his travels around the world. He lives and works in London. Forthcoming: 'David Gentleman's Britain' ISBN: 9781851496235 GBP25.00
