Thomas Mayo is a Zenadth Kes (Torres Strait Islander) man living on Larrakia country in Darwin, Australia. He is the father of five children, with a 16-year age difference between the oldest and the youngest. At age 17, Thomas became a wharf labourer, leading him to become a union official for the Maritime Union of Australia in his early thirties. Thomas has been a tireless campaigner for the First Nations proposals of Voice Treaty Truth, presented to the Australian people in the Uluru Statement from the Heart. His first two books are Finding the Heart of the Nation and children’s book Finding Our Heart, both about the Uluru Statement.
