Death of Long Pig by Nigel Planer

Intriguing play by Planer ex-Young One, about RL Stevenson and Paul Gauguin in the South Seas.

'A meditation on cultural identity.. I left the theatre impressed by Planer’s curiosity and intelligence'

* The Times *

'No boring history lesson, but an opportunity to observe the artist, facing death, battle-scarred by the compulsion to create against reason'

* British Theatre Guide *
NIGEL PLANER is most famous as the drippy hippie, Neil, in The Young Ones and as one of the original members of The Comic Strip. As an actor he has played leads in many West End musicals such as Chicago, We Will Rock You and Wicked and has just taken over the role of Michael Ball's husband in Hairspray. As Nicholas Craig, he wrote the spoof autobiography, I, an Actor - Another Great Actor Explores Himself. His previous play, On the Ceiling transferred from Birmingham to the West End and was published by NHB.
