For 50 years a great myth has surrounded Field Marshal Montgomery and his conception and execution of the Battle of Normandy, following the D-Day landings on 6 June, 1944. This work examines the question of manpower availability and the roles of Montgomery and General Omar Bradley.
Carlo D'Este was born in 1936 and served with distinction in the US Army from which he retired with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1978 to write this book.
