Andy Hall was born in 1954 and was brought up in the north-east of Scotland. He graduated from Aberdeen University with a Bachelor of Education degree in 1977. His study of Scottish literature, particularly that of Lewis Grassic Gibbon and Robert Burns, had a powerful influence on him and shaped his love of the Scottish landscape, encouraging him to convey its essential elements through the medium of photography. Andy's reputation as a photographer of places and people has gained international recognition as a result of the success of his book, A Sense of Belonging to Scotland: The Favourite Places of Scottish Personalities.
