This title provides a useful handbook for anyone interested in jewellery whether as a professional studio jeweller or as a recreational activity. Topics include: range of tools and materials available; four projects explain how to make a pair of hairpins in acrylic, a silver band ring, a pair of knotted wire earrings and an oxidized silver penannular brooch; and finally, a section on design with suggested exercises to follow. The book includes illustrated work from more than 30 leading jewellers, which provides examples of techniques and materials, as well as inspiration to anyone making and wearing jewellery.
Sarah Macrae has been a practising jeweller since graduating from Brighton Polytechnic in 1981. She has been a member of the Designer Jewellers Group since 1984 and exhibits with them regularly.
