Warren Murphy was born in the city of Jersey City in the state of New Jersey. He was a journalist, an editor, and a politician. Murphy saw the arrests of many of his political colleagues as a sign that he needed to find a new vocation, and the Destroyer series was born. Murphy has five children and a few grandchildren: Deirdre, Megan, Brian, Ardath, and Devin. He has taught as an adjunct professor at Moravian College in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, as well as giving workshops and lectures at a variety of other colleges and universities.
Golf, mathematics, opera, and investment are some of his favorite pastimes. He was a member of the Private Eye Writers of America, the International Association of Crime Writers, the American Crime Writers League, and the Screenwriters Guild before joining the board of the Mystery Writers of America. www.warrenmurphy.com is Warren Murphy's website.
