Deucalion by Brian Caswell
Frozen in cryogenic sleep inhabitants of Old Earth have travelled across time and space to start a new life on the planet Deucalion.
'A fascinating book, with a wealth of possibilities for philosophical and ethical discussion' -- BookTrust Best Book Guide for Children and Young Adults, 2004 'I loved this exciting and though-provoking story.' -- Emma, age 13, Boox 'In a cleverly-crafted style combining third-person narrative with the first-person narrative of several of the main characters, Brian Caswell develops an exciting tale incorporating space neo-colonialism, the treatment of indigenous peoples, their mythology, the morality of genetic experimentation, political intrigue, revolution, and combines all this with a mystery concerning a group of children escaping from Earth, who appear to have developed telepathy. Highly recommended for teenagers and older. I have the feeling this isn't the last time Brian Caswelll writes about the planet Deucalion. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.' -- Arthur New, ACHUKA 'This prize-winning story could engage fans of Philip Pullman's Northern Lights trilogy looking for an imaginative and challenging read. Brian Caswell deftly constructs a new world, a great cast of characters and a strong plot. Moves at a good pace with moments of cinematic tension.' -- Catherine Sack, School Librarian Journal, Winter 2002
