Developmental Psychology by Ann Birch

A welcome second edition of this popular text which offers comprehensive coverage of developmental psychology for first-time readers. As well as up-dating and extending the existing text, new material is included on the ecology of development, cultural variations, early social interactions, the measurement of intelligence and Vygotsky's theory of mind. As before, the style is readable and 'user-friendly'; key concepts are highlighted throughout and each chapter contains objectives, self-assessment questions, and recommended further reading
'..the text is very strong on theoretical issues, and covers at least as much as many other introductory textbooks...I recommend this text to my students for its theoretical rigour and wide coverage.' - Derek G. Moore, Psychology Teaching Review 'Very well written and laid out. Easy to follow and very relevant for the syllabus on each course.' - Raymond Pate, Southport College
