The Devil Rides Out by Paul O'grady
Paul struggles to get to grips with unexpected fatherhood and bereavement, he searches high and low for a job that lasts and somehow finds himself getting married in the process. Work takes him from an abattoir to a children's home, from a hospital to a nightclub, and from penthouse to pavement.
"If you only buy one celeb memoir this year, make it this one" News of the World "Far and away the best writer of the lot ... his turn of phrase is a joy." The Sunday Times "Even funnier and more touching than the million-selling first volume. I defy anyone not to enjoy this book." -- Jilly Cooper Daily Telegraph "O'Grady has subversively used his celebrity clout to write a real autobiography, quite simply - detailed, fluent and engaging, quite remarkably showing sustained and sympathetic interest in all the people he knew ... strikingly original, a rewarding read whether or not you're a big O'Grady fan already." -- David Sexton London Evening Standard "...he writes so well, and takes you so skilfully into disparate Merseyside and London subcultures." -- John Dugdale Guardian
Paul O'Grady first came to fame in the guise of Lily Savage, and was nominated for a Perrier Award at the Edinburgh Festival in 1991. Lily later became a regular on This Morning, took over the bed on The Big Breakfast and presented Blankety Blank, but has now retired. Paul, of course, went on to further success presenting the Paul O'Grady Show on Channel 4. His first book, At My Mother's Knee, was the biggest selling autobiography of 2008. Paul has won numerous awards including a Bafta for Best Entertainment Performance (2005), National Television Awards for Most Popular Daytime Programme 2005 and Most Popular Entertainment Show 2008, and a Comedy Award for Best Comedy Entertainment Personality (2005).
