In 2005, Barbara Whitmans life changed forever when her husband of 40 years, Gerald (Jerry) was diagnosed with Alzheimers Disease. Barbara became his caregiver--a not-so-difficult task at first, but ever-increasing challenge as time went by. Her flower garden became her sanctuary, where everything seemed right within herself and her world. It was her special place when Jerry slept, or she needed respite from the heartache. Jerry passed away in October 2017 at home with Barbara by his side. They have three children, 9 grandchildren.
