Dido and Aeneas, Z.626 by Henry Purcell

Purcell's operatic masterpiece based on Book IV of Virgil's Aeneid in which the tragic tale of despair when Dido, Queen of Cathage was abnandoned by her Trojan lover Aeneas is presented here in digitally enhanced reissue of a vocal-score edition prepared by the eminent English musicologist Wiliam Hayman Cummings that was first issued by Novello in 1887. The opera was probably first performed in London in late 1689 but may have been composed nearly a decade before. Matching large conductor's score and orchestra material also available from Serenissima Music (92328).
