It is aimed primarily at the reader who has already read and digested one of the more than 800 existing books that thoroughly explain the inner workings of Photoshop (or other image manipulation software) but which have little time or space left for explaining how and where to apply that knowledge in practical and specific situations. It explains how to take and digitally process eye-catching, soul-grabbing photographs that take the photographer's vision further than it's used to going. It explains production techniques that are particularly suited to this type of subject matter, presenting them in a very friendly but concise manner. The focus is on learning visually and inspirationally, rather than strictly verbally.

Milburn, Ken: -

Ken Milburn has been a photographer, both full- and part-time, for nearly five decades. Ken has written over 300 articles and columns for computer magazines as well as 17 books on web design, Flash, and (mostly) Adobe Photoshop and digital photography. Books currently in print include Digital Photography: 99 Tips to Make you Look Like a Pro, The Photoshop 7 Virtual Classroom, and Photoshop Elements 2.0--The Complete Reference (all from Osborne/McGraw-Hill), and The Digital Photography Bible, 2nd Edition, from Wiley. His newest book, for O'Reilly, the Digital Photographer's Handbook, releases in January 2004.
