Three Hundred Eighty-three directors are included alphabetically by surname. There is complete coverage of all periods and genres.

SANJIT NARWEKAR, a journalist, author, and scriptwriter, previously worked as news editor for a leading Indian film trade weekly, Screen. He writes extensively on Indian film and other subjects and has edited several books. He has also written scripts for documentary and feature films.
