Divided States of America by Larry J Sabato

A follow-up to his best-selling Get in the Booth! A Citizen’s Guide to the 2004 Election, this new book looks back at the 2004 campaigns and election and offers fresh analyses and trenchant commentary by Larry Sabato and a team of top election scholars and journalists.

Larry J. Smith is the founder and director of the University of Virginia's renowned Center for Politics. Sabato has been dubbed the Dr. Phil of politics in the United States. He has appeared on 60 Minutes, the Today Show, Hardball, The O'Reilly Factor, and Nightline, among other national television and radio programs. He obtained his doctorate in politics from Oxford as a Rhodes scholar, and has been on the faculty of UVA since 1978. He is the author of more than a hundred articles and twenty books, including Feeding Frenzy: Attack Media and American Politics, The Growth of Political Consultants: New Techniques of Winning Elections, and, most recently, The Sixth Year Itch: George W. Bush's Rise and Fall.

He was a co-anchor for the BBC's coverage of the 2006 election during Bush's presidency. The Thomas Jefferson Award, granted yearly to one individual since 1955, was bestowed upon him by the University of Virginia in 2002.
