DNS and BIND by Paul Albitz
A complete guide to the Internet's Domain Name System (DNS) and the Berkeley Internet Name Domain (BIND) software, the UNIX implementation of DNS. This edition covers Bind 4.8.3, which is included in most vendor implementations today, as well as Bind 4.9.3.Cricket Liu attended the University of California, Berkeley, which is known for its free speech, unrestricted Unix, and affordable pizza. After graduating, he went to work for Hewlett-Packard, where he spent nine years. After the Loma Prieta earthquake forcibly relocated the zone's control from HP Laboratories to HP's Corporate Offices (by busting a sprinkler main and flooding Labs' computer room), Cricket took over operation of the hp.com zone. Cricket spent almost three years as hostmaster@hp.com before joining HP's Professional Services Unit to cofound HP's Internet Consulting Program. Cricket left HP in 1997 to co-found Acme Byte & Wire, a DNS consulting and training firm, with his buddy (and current co-author) Matt Larson.
In June 2000, Network Solutions purchased Acme and eventually merged with VeriSign on the same day. Cricket worked for VeriSign Global Registry Services for a year as Director of DNS Product Management. In September 2001, Cricket joined Men & Mice, an Icelandic firm that specializes in DNS software and services. He is currently the Vice President of Research and Development for the company.
Cricket, his wife Paige, and their son Walt live in Colorado with Annie and Dakota, two Siberian Huskies. You'll usually find them on the flying trapeze or wakeboarding behind Betty Blue on warm weekend afternoons.
