George Macleod, a graduate of Glasgow University, was one of the world's foremost authorities on the homoeopathic treatment of animals. He was one of the few veterinary surgeons to use homoeopathic medicines wholly and exclusively. After working for the British Government during World War II, he set up in practice in Dornoch, Sutherland before moving to a practice in Haywards Heath, Sussex, England. For nearly 50 years, George Macleod treated all types of animals, from thoroughbred racehorses and pedigree cattle to household pets, with great success, often where other forms of treatment had failed. George Macleod was the President of The British Association of Homoeopathic Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Consultant to the Homoepathic Development Foundation. He wrote several books on the homoeopathic treatment of farm and domestic animals.

He practised veterinary homoeopathy for nearly fifty years, with practices in the Scottish Highlands, West Midlands and Sussex, and was the President of the British Association of Homoeopathic Veterinary Surgeons and Veterinary Consultant to the Homoeopathic Development Foundation. His other books include Cats- Homoeopathic Remedies.
