Don't Eat Me by Colin Cotterill
Dr. Siri Paiboun, the ex-national coroner of Laos, may have more experience dissecting bodies than making art, but when he manages to smuggle a fancy movie camera into the country he devises a plan to shoot a Lao adaptation of War and Peace with his friend Civilai. The only problem? The Ministry of Culture must approve the script before they can get rolling. That and they can't figure out how to turn on the camera.Colin Cotterill was born in the year 1952 in London. He studied education and worked as a teacher in Israel, Australia, the United States, and Japan before deciding to train teachers in Thailand and along the Burmese border. He spent several years in Laos and developed and produced a language education series for Thai state television. Colin is involved with a variety of social projects, the majority of them are aimed towards children. He founded a book and scholarship program in Laos with his wife, and he also manages a small school for Burmese migrants' children near his home.
Meanwhile, Colin pursues his other two passions: cartooning and writing. He's published almost fifteen books since 2000, including the Dr Siri crime series set in Laos. Colin and his wife live in Chumphon, Thailand, where he rides his bicycle along the shore, decapitates coconuts, eats a lot of squid, plays with his dogs, and sits down to write every now and again.
