Don't Shoot Your Mule by Beth Duke
Don't miss this wonderful read. I loved it.-Haywood Smith, NY Times and USA Today best selling author of The Red Hat Club, Ladies of the Lake, and Queen Bee of Mimosa BranchI flipped the little wire to pop the bottle open and held it next to my nose. Then I cried. I let all my tears fill it up, back and forth between my eyes. One tear at a time, I was able to catch enough to come to the very top. I patted the rhinestone stopper into place and wrapped the pink glass in toilet paper. This is how I would keep the worst day of my life with me-in a tiny, secret bottle. - Delaney Robinson, Don't Shoot Your MuleThis highly anticipated sequel to Delaney's People takes readers on a turbulent, surprise-filled journey from Depression Era rural Alabama through 2011's devastating tornadoes and their impact on Delaney's family and friends. Family ties, love, loss, betrayal and a characteristic dead mule combine in a perfect book for devotees of Southern literature. You might also like
Beth Dial Duke was born in Anniston, Alabama and lived on the Gulf Coast of Florida for many years. She is married to Jay and the proud mother of Jason and Savannah. The author of several prize-winning short stories, her work has been featured in Pearl: A Literary Magazine and included in the British anthology The Possibility of Bears. After a successful career in marketing, she is pursuing her first love: writing. Happily located in the scenic mountains of her home state, she lives with her family and eleven loyal chickens, two lovable dogs and a randomly affectionate cat. As a copyrighted jewelry designer and former vintage jewelry dealer, she is uniquely qualified to pen her book's opener, Jewels. It was her first work of fiction in 2008 and won second place in a national competition. In addition to song parodies, pithy letters and sometimes scathing news commentary, she writes a somewhat regular blog about anything and everything at www.bethdialduke.blogspot.com. She loves baking elaborate cupcakes, long walks to the nearby lake, sparkly things, great shoes, and will travel at the drop of a hat. Delaney's People is her debut novel, and she hopes it brings you joy. For more information, please visit http: //www.bethduke.com.
