Dr. Donovan's Bequest by Michael O'donnell
Donal Donovan was a GP in Slagthorpe during the decade when the 1950s metamorphosed into the Sixties. His archive includes stories based on the antics of local doctors and their patients. Written before accountants took over the world, these tales celebrated the triumph of humanity over efficiency. This book contains a selection of these tales.
Michael O'Donnell practised medicine for twelve years before becoming a writer. He has published two novels and written and presented over 100 TV documentaries. On radio he was chairman of My Word, a regular chatterer on Stop the Week, and wrote and presented Relative Values. He became addicted to doctor watching when editor of World Medicine and served 26 years as rebel in residence on the GMC.
