Dr. Strangelove's Game by Paul Strathern
This volume is an entertaining account of the lives, times and ideas of the great economists - men like Adam Smith, Karl Marx and John Maybard Keynes. It also introduces lesser-known eccentric figures (crackpot academics) and Dr Strangelove himself, John von Neumann, who invented game theory.
Born in London in 1940, Paul Strathern lectures in philosophy and science at Kingston University. He is the author of MENDELEYEV'S DREAM (2000) and the Somerset Maugham prize-winning novel A SEASON IN ABYSSINIA.
