Katharine Kerr first grew interested in fantasy through role-playing games, and she became so fascinated that she began writing pieces for gaming magazines and was a contributing editor to Dragon magazine for a period. With her debut Deverry novel, Daggerspell, published in 1986, she was quickly drawn into the world of fantasy fiction.
