Richard Brightfield's maze books were an outgrowth of his lifelong doodling frenzy, which began when he was a toddler and continued through his years at Johns Hopkins University (class of 1949) and into adulthood. He wrote and/or drew over a hundred books, many with his late wife, Glory, in addition to working for many years as a graphic designer at Columbia University. Rick's parallel life consisted of him traveling the world as an amateur archaeologist. When he's not bicycling, playing tennis, or leaping in the surf, he lives in Florida with his five cats and a dog, where he paints and writes every day.
