Draw and Sketch Buildings by Jim Woods
Sixteen attention-grabbing exercises are organized in gradual progression from the simplest sketches to more complex drawings. Within this, the fundamentals of drawing are explained in feature spreads, while the exercises show these fundamentals in practice. The exercises are planned in six easy steps, each highlighting a particular aspect of learning to draw. All stages of the drawing are shown, including the most basic, so that every exercise can be started from a blank sheet of paper. All drawing media - pencil, charcoal, chalk, pastel, pen and ink, technical pen, and watercolour as a drawing medium - are included. The use of each medium is clearly demonstrated, and a media techniques directory is included for easy reference at the back of each volume.
Jim Woods had a successful career in creative design and advertising for Sainsburys Supermarkets before he turned to painting full-time on retirement. He studied drawing and life drawing under the Royal Acadamician Michael Rooney at the Sutton School of Liberal Arts, and quickly developed a recognizable style which is both linear and loose. When living in London he exhibited annually in the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour show. He holds regular exhibitions of his work locally in the west of England where he now lives and his paintings can be seen in private collections all over the world.
