His hope was fueled by embracing his mother's steely faith in a brighter future. Moore skirted the gangs, the police, and the violence endemic to Compton to excel as a student and athlete, eventually reaching the pinnacles of academic achievement as a Rhodes Scholar. Caylin Louis Moore grew up in Compton, California. A graduate of Texas Christian University, he was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship in 2017 and earned his master's degree at the University of Oxford, Jesus College. A doctoral student in sociology at Stanford University, Moore lives with his wife, Paola, and their daughter, Mia.
