This book shows you, as a beginning Web page author, just what you need to know to get a Web page up in the shortest time possible, using the tools available for free on services like Geocities. These new services allow you to graphically create the Web page you desire using online tools, without hours of coding HTML and without any specialized software programs. It starts out introducing you to the fill-in-the blanks, template-driven tools, and then moves into the steps necessary to design, create, and publish a page from scratch on the World Wide Web. You don't need to know anything about HTML and you don't need any kind of special Web page software. All you need to get started is a computer (PC or Macintosh), an Internet account, and a Web browser.

Gina Carrillo has enjoyed 10 years of professional experience as a technical writer, analyst, editor, Web designer/developer, and instructor. She works full-time as a technical writer and application analyst, writing software system manuals, developing online help and company Web sites, and writing technical documentation. Gina has also helped develop a certification program for technical communicators at the University of South Florida, where she is a part-time RoboHelp and Technical Editing instructor. While not working or teaching, Gina also is an author and technical editor for Que Publishing and Sams Publishing.
