The Economics of the Firm by Roger Clarke
This book offers an introduction to the recent, rapid developments in the economic analysis of the firm. Emphasizing recent work on the concepts of agency, markets, managerial hierarachies, and corporate strategic behaviour, the contributors consider vertical integration, conglomerates, multinationals, and the relationships between prinicipals and agents. These general ideas are developed in the first half of the book, and are followed by discusssions of particular areas of firm operation.ROGER CLARKE is best recognized for his work as a film critic for the Independent and, more recently, Sight & Sound. Roger Clarke has spent much of his life trying to see a ghost, inspired by his childhood experiences in two haunted houses. When Roald Dahl asked his agent to sign him on as a client in the 1980s, he was the youngest person ever to join the Society for Psychical Research and was getting his ghost stories published by The Pan & Fontana series of horror books at the age of 15.
