The Economy in Question by John Allen
A broad introductory text, this volume surveys recent shifts in the British economy and their impact on the regional distribution of resources; this is the first title in a major Open University series on the restructuring of Britain.`This is a well structured, integrated text which addresses important questions concerning contemporary economic change in Britian...it will undoubtedly be used in a variety of higher education institutions.′ - Geography
`Anybody looking for help in making sense of the massive changes at work in the economy and occupational structure in Britain over the past 15 years or so need look no further... in the best traditions of OU course materials there are lots of diagrams, tables and figures which are clearly explained and particularly well presented.′ - Social Science Teacher
From 1982 to 2009, Doreen Massey (1944-2016) was a professor of geography at the Open University. Before joining the OU, she worked at the Centre for Environmental Studies in London, which was notoriously dissolved by Margaret Thatcher's government. She was a fellow of the British Academy and the winner of the Prix Vautrin Lud, known as the Nobel Prize of geography.
