His many films include "Midnight Cowboy", (Academy Award for Best Picture), "Far from the Madding Crowd", "Marathon Man" and "Sunday, Bloody Sunday". Schlesinger also directed films for the BBC including "Cold Comfort Farm", "Separate Tables", "A Question of Attribution", and "An Englishman Abroad".
