
Egeria's Travels by John Wilkinson
Egeria, who was most probably a Spanish nun, visited the Holy Land only fifty years after the death of Constantine, making her work the earliest surviving account of the area.
Revd Dr John Wilkinson was Director of the British School of Archaeology in Jerusalem between 1979 and 1984.
