Patterson's fourteenth book is Electricity Vs Fire: The Battle For Our Future. He's also written hundreds of papers, articles, and reviews on subjects like nuclear power, coal technology, renewable energy, energy systems, energy policy, and electricity.
He has served as a specialist advisor to two House of Commons Select Committees, an expert witness at several government hearings, a frequent broadcaster and media advisor, and a speaker or chair at conferences all over the world. The Energy Institute has given him the Melchett Medal. For his support of decentralized electricity, he was nominated to the Scientific American 50 as an energy policy leader.
