An Embarrassing Death by Roderic Jeffries

Bill Stemple sells secret photographs of the new Lanfair model to a French motor magazine simply as a foolish prank to annoy the directors of Lanfair Motors. As an employee in the publicity department of the company, he leaves almost everything to be desired. His outstanding virtue, albeit a negative one, is that he has not committed murder. The morning after the office party a young female member of staff is found murdered. Bill had been with her the last time she was seen alive and had made a pass at her. He soon finds himself under suspicion, and under arrest. There are surprises for all concerned in the legal proceedings that follow.
