Hector-Henri Malot dit Hector Malot (1830-1907), est un romancier fran ais. Il fait ses tudes au lyc e Corneille de Rouen. En 1853, il s'installe Paris, et tente de faire repr senter une premi re pi ce, en vain. Pour assurer sa subsistance, il crit quelques articles. Il se retire chez ses parents pour crire sa premi re trilogie Les Victimes d'Amour dont le premier volume para t en 1859. Hector Malot est la t te d'une oeuvre importante: une soixantaine de romans. Les plus connus aujourd'hui sont ses romans pour enfants: Romain Kalbris (1869), Sans Famille (1878), En Famille (1893). Un autre roman pour enfants est paru de fa on posthume. Il est intitul Le Mousse. Le reste de son oeuvre est compos e de romans pour les adultes. Ils parurent en feuilletons dans des journaux comme Le Si cle et Le Temps. Cinq sont r dit s de nos jours: Un Beau-Fr re (1869) (qui doit sortir sous peu), Un Miracle (1872), Baccara (1886), Complices (1892) et Le Roman de Mes Romans (1896), ouvrage de fin de carri re dans lequel il narre dans quelles circonstances il composa.Hector Malot (1830-1907) was a French writer who was born in the Seine-Maritime town of La Bouille. He studied law in Rouen and Paris, but his true interest was literature. He worked for Lloyd Francais as a dramatic reviewer and L'Opinion Nationale as a literary critic. Les Amants was his debut work, published in 1859. Malot went on to write more than 70 books in all.
Sans Famille (Nobody's Boy, 1878) is by far his most famous work, and it follows the adventures of Remi, a young orphan who is sold to the street musician Vitalis at the age of ten. Sans Famille became famous as a children's book, despite the fact that it was not intended to be one. In 1895, he announced his retirement as a fiction writer, but in 1896, he reappeared with the novel L'amour Dominateur and the autobiography Le Roman de mes Romans (The Novel of My Novels).
