The volume provides the most extensive anthology ever produced on Africa s first Nobel Laureate in Literature and features 30 essays with a foreword by the former Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Chief Emeka Anyaoku. Diverse aspects of his life are reflected in six themes that also documents the literary and cultural histories of West Africa from the 1950s to the present day.
Promise, Ogochukwu: - Ogochukwu Promise is a poet, motivational speaker, career advisor, visual 'abstract' artist and servant of children of humble condition. She travels around the world, motivating and encouraging people to be the best they can be, discovering people's dynamic potential for productivity and fulfilment and developing Youth Training Programmes, as well as strategies for social/community work. Her work in different genres have won many awards, which include the Cadbury, Spectrum, Matatu, NDDC, Pat Utomi, Flora Nwapa and Okigbo Poetry Prize. She is an Azikiwe Fellow in Communication, as well as a Fellow of Stiftung Kulturfonds and the Iowa International Writing Program. She has enjoyed fellowships in the USA, Italy and Germany and has travelled extensively in Europe, Africa and Asia as a scholar, playwright and poet. She has a PhD in Communication and Language Art from the University of Ibadan.
